About SARAA

Kat (she/her) is a lifelong animal advocate with an instinct for action, love of travel, and aptitude for plucking stray animals off the street. Her professional background includes homeless services, anti-trafficking work, and legal aid—fields all rooted in systems, advocacy, and care.

After bringing home yet another dog from a personal trip, Kat began showing up more intentionally—listening to and learning from rescuers and organizations already leading the daily work. Recognizing the limits of local rescue capacity, she began organizing, funding, and leading rescue trips to bring dogs to New England and find their forever homes.

Each trip was met with a groundswell of support, with consistently engaged advocates and donors making it possible for her work to grow. In 2023, Kat founded Street Animal Rescue Alliance (SARA), a nonprofit focusing on severe cases, special needs, and senior dogs. As she became more embedded in these rescue networks, a pattern became clear: these organizations were founded and led by women. Her donors and supporters were mostly women. Her professional colleagues were predominantly women.

As an avid feminist and believer in the collective power of women joining together to build more humane, just, and resilient futures, a question emerged: What becomes possible when women come together to learn from and inspire one another to engage deeply in work that matters?

This experience is her answer.
